We do not collect participant email addresses

This is a deliberate design decision, not an oversight. A person sitting an exam gives a name and uses a code. We never ask them for an email address, a password, a phone number or a date of birth, and there is nowhere in Gradeport to store one.

Anything a participant needs — a result, a practice link — reaches them through their teacher, or by signing in with their own code.

What we hold about teachers

• Your name and email address.
• Your password, stored only as a scrambled value that cannot be turned back into the original.
• Which language and role you chose.
• When you last signed in.

What we hold about participants

• The display name they gave, or that their teacher entered.
• An 8-digit code we generate, which identifies them instead of an email address.
• Which classes they belong to and which exams they have sat.
• Their answers and their marks.

What we do not do

• We do not sell data to anyone.
• We do not use exam content or participant answers for advertising.
• We do not track participants across other websites.

Cookies

We use one cookie to keep a teacher signed in, and one to remember a participant on their device. Both are strictly necessary to use the service. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.

Where the data lives

On servers we control. Connections are encrypted, and the database is not reachable from the public internet.

How long we keep it

Until you delete it. Deleting an exam or a class removes its data permanently and immediately. Teachers will also be able to set results to delete themselves automatically after a period they choose.

Your rights

You may ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. For a participant, the request comes through their teacher or school, who decides what happens to class data.
